Fowey

Fowey

Fowey enjoys a sheltered position on the south facing shores of Cornwall, popularly known as ‘The Cornish Riviera.’ Here you can relax down by the harbour and watch the shipping of all sorts and sizes as it makes its way up and down the estuary. The picturesque village of Polruan can be reached by ferry, with an additional ferry service to the quaint fishing village of Mevagissey, or why not take your car on the Bodinnick Ferry and follow the coastal road to Looe?

Found on a romantic stretch of coast where Daphne duMaurier lived and set several novels, it is still largely unspoilt. Situated on the mouth of the River Fowey, life in the town has always revolved around the water. It is ideal for the sailing and water sports enthusiast, and also for fishermen who have the benefits of both river and sea fishing. Also ramblers have a wide variety of charming walks in beautiful coastal or wooded scenery. For those who enjoy relaxing on the beach, there is safe bathing at Readymoney Cove.

There are lots of adventures to be had on the river Fowey, from a 45 minute river cruise, to a one hour 30 minute wildlife adventure on the Kernow Explorer a powerful purpose built RIB. Whose recent sightings include Dolphins, Atlantic Grey Seals, Pilot Whales, Baskin Sharks, Ocean Sunfish and a vast array of Bird Wildlife. Or if you would like to explore the river on your own why not hire a self drive boat, form "Self Drive Steve" All of the above are found on the Town Quay.
